Chris Touchette, AIA


When developing creative design solutions for his clients, Chris incorporates high standards of environmental performance into architectural form, working closely with his clients to build consensus around shared goals. A studio leader and firm Principal, Chris brings an inclusive and collaborative approach to his work and careful attention to client service.

In over 28 years of professional service with CCY Architects, Chris has played a key role in many of the firm’s most notable projects. He leads design, planning, and delivery on a diverse range of project types, including recreation-based resorts and hospitality environments, such as Edgewood Lodge, Bay Club, and Brasada Ranch Resort. He works across scales, ranging from community planning to custom furnishings. In the studio, Chris has led strategic planning for a range of firm initiatives, including professional development standards and recruiting.

The former Chairman for the Town of Basalt’s Planning & Zoning Com-mission, Chris continues to stay engaged in community-oriented projects, sharing his professional insights and expertise to solve regional sustainability issues while striving to elevate the local standards for architecture and construction. He is currently involved and sits on the Design Review Boards for the Tree Farm in Basalt and Wilder on the Taylor in Crested Butte, Colorado.

A graduate of Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, Chris is an advocate for sustainability and social capital in his work. Across all phases of his work, from initial concepts through construction administration, he looks for ways to optimize the energy performance of projects. His Gambel Oaks Ranch was awarded LEED Gold, and he is currently working on Coral Mountain, a new resort in California with significant high-performance initiatives.
