2021 International Architecture Awards
CCY is thrilled to announce that Meadow House has been selected by The International Architecture Awards, the oldest and most prestigious international building awards program. The award, which honors new and cutting-edge design worldwide, is dedicated to the recognition of excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global perspective.
Since 2004, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd. have organized this award to honor the best new buildings, landscape architecture, and planning projects around the world. The International Architecture Awards program gives an important global overview of the current aesthetic direction of today’s commercial, corporate, institutional, and residential work to the real estate, banking, business, and corporate community, as well as to the press and general public worldwide. The program is one of the Museum’s most important public education outreach initiatives to the Museum’s international audience. For 2021, a 400-strong shortlist had been selected from over 800 entries from 46 countries ranging from China and Canada to México, Singapore, and the UAE, and of the 130 winning projects, only 16 were private residential.
On this award, John Cottle, Principal, notes, “We are honored to receive this exceptional international award. When we set out to create this special home in Aspen, Colorado, we felt it was essential that the structure would live light on the land, which led us to embed the structure into the landscape rather than on top of it. Creating architecture that honors, protects, and elevates the surrounding landscape is a core pillar of what we do at CCY, and this project exemplifies this approach.”
On Friday, September 10, 2021, The Chicago Athenaeum, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, will hold the official awards event, “The City and the World” Exhibition and Gala Reception, next to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece honoring this year’s winners.
